Data Platform Manager

There is an exciting opportunity here to join the team and be accountable for managing the ongoing design and development of the organisation's data warehouses. You will be expected to maintain a high level of engagement with the Data Platform team on the coordination of data pipeline deliveries.
The Data Platform Manager will inform on development of data pipelines and design patterns of organisational data warehouses. You'll manage, lead, and coordinate the organisational data mart builds and ongoing development and ensure that the data warehouse and mart schemas are available of the data delivery team to carryout database developments.
What will you be doing in this position as Data Platform Manager?
You will be an SME, supporting, managing, and leading platform engineers in the development of data warehouse solutions and data pipelines into data marts
In your role as Data Platform Manager you will inform on ongoing organisation wide projects and implementations that impact on data warehouse deliveries and sources
You're going to need to be able to understand highly complex sources from multiplatform inputs and then produce consumable schema design to support the data delivery team and business partners in the delivery of information and reports for the Senior Management team, the Board, and externally
The Data Platform Manager will develop guides using best practice in the development of complex sources to be used downstream by reporting and analytical tools within the organisation
You'll carry out periodic audits of various data sources to ensure that the data is entered correctly
Your role will involve identifying and solving a range of problems within the current data sources and systems
As the Data Platform Manager you will be expected to act as an expert on the data systems within the organisation
You will manage the data engineering infrastructure for the business including SQL Server Data warehouse and data marts to support the delivery team
You're going to work with the IT team to plan and manage the data engineering infrastructure changes and upgrades
You'll be responsible for the ongoing performance and security of the data engineering systems
The Data Platform Manager will lead on the development and maintenance of the reporting database systems including the underlying design, ETL processes, data marts, and documentation
Your remit will include management of the definition process for data engineering standards, guidelines, and principles for all data engineering design and solutions within the organisation and responsibility for ensuring they are implemented
You will also be responsible to ensure constant data integrity throughout the data landscape
You will become the expert of the systems used within the business and the underlying data sets and you will review new datasets and highly complex data sources and assess implications for improving analytical methods and widening the analytical output of the organisation
As the Data Platform Manager you will manage the integrity of the data systems in relation to projects including the data warehouse project, the core systems project and other IT and business change projects What do you need to apply to this role?
An ability to collate, analyse, and interpret extremely complex datasets
An ability to expllain complex analytical methods to non-analytical people
Stakeholder management experience
An ability to identify underlying problems by analysing information and find effective solutions
An ability to work autonomously on a daily basis
Advanced Excel experience
Intermediate experience on the remainder of MS Office suite
Demonstrated experience managing multiple databases
Experience designing, developing, and managing data warehouses or other complex relational databases
Experience designing, developing, and managing ETL processes (use of ERD tools in design and creating data catalogue and orgaisational data flows)
