JOB TITLE | SUPERVISOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

Childcare Supervisors are responsible for the overall safety and well-being of the children in their care. They set the standards and policies and procedures for the service and ensure the implementation of and adherence to these.

Under direction, assists in the coordination of the daily operations of the Centre; enforces regulations under the Child Care regulations and guidelines; implements and maintains an appropriate learning environment for the children; and performs related work as required as follows:

?? Ensures the Centre's rooms and play areas are maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.

?? Oversees daily food program to meet children's nutritional needs; ensures that substitutions are provided for children with dietary restrictions; posts and trains staff on child food allergies and how to accommodate children with allergies.

?? Maintains appropriate staff level to accommodate children in accordance with regulations.

?? Provides information to parents concerning their children's development, abilities, and areas of concern; explains classroom activities as requested.

?? Monitors family enrolment to ensure reporting procedures for the Childcare Centre's attendance and financial information is accurate.

?? Oversees parent-teacher conferences.

?? Monitors teachers to ensure quality of teaching methods.

?? Advises parents on services and provides referrals to community agencies as necessary.

?? Reports incidents of suspected child abuse to proper authorities.

?? Plans and coordinates staff meetings to promote ongoing communication.

?? Works in classrooms as a teacher on an as needed basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRED | Levels 5-8 or equivalent (DCYA Approved)

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

?? Experience of dealing with Department of Education, Child Development Division guidelines

?? Child Care Food Program guidelines

?? Early childhood development and appropriate practices

?? Appropriate health and safety codes

?? Reporting procedures for suspected child abuse

?? Laws and regulations covering such abuse

?? Materials, tools and equipment to be used in the classroom setting

?? Skills in establishing and maintaining effective communications with adults and children

?? Standard office software.

DESIRABLE SKILLS | Experience in a Supervisory position

HOURS OF WORK | Creche open 7am - 7pm, hours to be agreed.

LOCATION | Barton Drive, Rathfarnham

SALARY RANGE | Starts at ???15.00 per hour DOE and qualifications
