Contract opportunity for experienced Development Lead based in Portsmouth working for the Navy Digital Platform

  • GBP550 per day inside IR35
  • Active SC Clearance to start

WHO ARE WE?

We are recruiting Development Leads to work into the Navy Digital Platform (NDP). Successful candidates will be working on exciting projects at the forefront of finding, tracking, and detection work. Due to the nature of our client, you must have active SC security clearance to start.

WHAT WILL THE DEVELOPMENT LEAD BE DOING?

The Development Lead will be accountable for ensuring the solution is built, tested, and implemented in align with client needs and good engineering practice. In the role, you will;

  • Carry out low-level design activities supported by the Architecture team and Technical Lead
  • Contribute to project planning activities - including agile estimation and capability planning - ensuring delivery objectives are met in line with project schedule
  • Guide and direct the development team/s - resource planning, up-skilling and growth opportunities for the engineers
  • Be accountable for the functionality and quality delivered by engineering team
  • Define strategies for implementing continuous integration and deployment

THE DEVELOPMENT LEAD SHOULD HAVE???

  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and robust code
  • Experience with software engineering best practices and good development hygiene
  • Familiarity with agile development methods
  • Experience with Big Data technologies
  • Ability to work well with colleagues of all backgrounds and seniorities
  • Strong communication skills - present complex technical concepts to broad array of stakeholders

TECHNOLOGIES

The NDP Development lead will have knowledge and prior implementing experience of some of the following;

  • Python or Scala/Java
  • Linux
  • Kubernetes, Docker, containerisation
  • Terraform, Ansible, Packer, VMware
  • Apache Kafka with ZooKeeper
  • HDFS, Hadoop, GraphQL
