Governors Support Officer

£20243 pro rata

Hours: 37 hours per week during term-time only

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Governors’ Support Team for a flexible, motivated individual to support school governing boards on a term time only basis. You will join a small successful team providing a high-quality support service to school governing boards. You will work closely with schools/academies servicing approximately 23 meetings per term completing administrative tasks such as compiling agendas and taking meeting minutes as well as maintaining a database for school governing boards. You will support and advise school governors to discharge their statutory responsibilities and to operate an effective and efficient governing board.

You must be a good communicator with the skills required to work with a broad range of people.  You will be able to learn and become familiar with a vast range of statutory and other guidance relating to the work of a governing board.  It is essential that you are able to demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, IT and administration skills. You should also be highly organised and can ensure tight deadlines are met. You will also be sensitive to personal information and have an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.

The majority of meetings serviced are held at schools throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire in the evenings (with some being held virtually). You therefore must be willing to work flexibly and whilst based at County Hall Beverley, must be able to travel extensively across the East Riding. The salary for this post of £20,043 is pro-rated based on a term time working formula, which is reduced to £16,702 when the term-time formula is applied.

You will be well supported, with a mentor-based induction programme as well as additional and ongoing training. The post does require and enhanced DBS check to be completed for which the cost would be covered by the employer.
