The mission of the Cambridge Graphene Centre (CGC) is to investigate the science and technology of graphene and related materials. The Cambridge Graphene Centre also hosts the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT), in Graphene Technology. The CGC Operations team, managed by the CGC Deputy Director and COO, includes the CGC facilities management and support staff.

As part of the CGC facilities management and support staff, the Cleanroom Process Technician will be responsible for control over the handling and use of processing equipment. They will assist the CGC Principal Technician, Laboratory Manager and the CGC Facilities Manager to undertake all higher risk activities, such as modifications to the gas handling system and resupply, which is particularly important when the hazard presented is acute. They will also assist with the building operations, including close monitoring of temperature, water supply, solar energy generation and AV facilities. They will be responsible for storing and cataloguing of equipment, PCs and laptops, as well as desks and chairs and their deployment to the seminar, tutorial, boardrooms and atriums according to the users' needs. They will be tasked with processing graphene and related materials using various clean room based equipment, in order to maintain a steady production of materials for the CGC and its industrial and academic partners. This will require following precise procedures developed by the CGC researchers. They will train staff and students on a variety of procedures and processes used in the CGC facilities.

They will update the CGC, NMS and CDT web pages and the SRF Booking Web interface with all available facilities, including brief descriptions and pictures, as well as be responsible for purchasing any item required for the running of the CGC and CDT. They will maintain and update a database of all purchases to ensure easy accounting and traceability.

Applicants should have a level standard of education / qualification equitable to HNC/HND, level 4/5 vocational qualification, or have a time-served apprenticeship or an equivalent level of practical experience of micro and nanofabrication of devices in a cleanroom environment. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the relevant regulations and practice for working in a microfabrication clean facility and specialist knowledge of microfabrication processes.

They will have excellent communication skills to enable explanation of and instruction in technical issues and processes to staff and students at all levels and experience in clean room processes. Experience in handling chemicals, gasses and clean room processing equipment is necessary.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
