Portfolio Manager - Liverpool/Preston

Our client is an established and flexible, government backed Alternative Finance lender. They provide mezzanine financing loans and stand-alone loans to SMEs across the North of England and aim to lend money sustainably and responsibly in a push to help drive the economy forward. They are highly reputable and this is a fantastic opportunity to represent a brilliant business.

As a Portfolio Manager you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, monitoring ongoing risks and performance, seeking to minimise the risk of financial loss for the Bank. You will also need to be able to build strong working relationships internally and externally across the business. This role will be a mixture of office, home based and out visiting clients, the location of the portfolio is Liverpool and Preston so we will need someone who lives in or near to patch.

Responsibilities of the Portfolio Manager - Liverpool/Preston:

  • Monitor a portfolio of lending customers
  • Develop an appropriate plan of action to ensure detailed portfolio monitoring.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to develop an up-to-date understanding of client businesses and its financial position. This will include client visits.
  • Produce and maintain relevant, accurate monitoring systems for all client activities.
  • Monitor and assess relevant information including financial information to prepare necessary reports on performance of portfolio companies. Make balanced recommendations to senior management where additional lending is required.

Requirements of the Portfolio Manager - Liverpool/Preston:

  • Proven technical experience ideally in a Commercial or Corporate Banking environment.
  • Proven ability to manage a portfolio from a risk perspective.
  • Good technical skills including analytic, credit and risk.
  • Understanding of lending and lending proposals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Attention to detail.
