Hourly pay rate:GBP17.72 Paye / GBP22.51 Umbrella
Hours per week:Average 45 hours per week
Shifts: Various must be flexible to work days, nights & weekends

Position Summary
This position will be completing heavy mechanical modifications of Rolling Stock Vehicles 221 and 170 units. You will be expected to complete tasks from written work instruction, including Mechanical strips and refits on components. You will also specifically work on modifications of Heavy Diesel engines. This is a Safety Critical position and is a requirement against the Service Agreement (SA). The position is based on a busy maintenance depot and all applicants would be expected to complete the following:
*Complete Diesel engine repairs
*Work from written instruction (VMI)
*Work from Mechanical Engineering drawings, working to specific measurements
*Replacing mechanical components to correspond to engineering drawings
*Work flexibly with a maintenance team
Heavy maintenance/Overhaul on Cross Country 221 and West
Coast 221 such as:
Bogie exchange
Caliper change
Axle changes
Traction motors
Carden shafts
Power pack drop (Engine)
Compressors
Air dryers
Fuel tanks
Excitations [PIMS]
Permanent and Auto couplers
TPCU
Cab changes
Full door changes
Seats
Floor renewal
Toilet tank exchange (Alongside TBM)
Fresh water tanks
Mechanical Mods
Mod on the Cross Countries completed via technical drawing, followed
up with testing
Various maintenance visits such as compressor oil changes, air dryer pressure
valve, final drive oil sampling and changes and brake pad checks and
changes
Person Profile/Experience:
No previous rail experience required as we will consider applicants that have worked on any of the following, but you must have Mechanical Maintenance or Diesel Engine experience.
Diesel Engine Fitter, Aviation HVAC, Process Engineering, Production Plants, Mechanic, Automotive - Routine Maintenance on Trucks/ HGV, Defence - Routine Maintenance on Submarines / Ships / Aircraft, EX Forces Mechanical Engineer - Routine Maintenance on Aircraft/ helicopters/ HGV (REME, RAF, Navy)
Qualifications:
NVQ 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in a Mechanical discipline is a requirement.
