My client provides a comprehensive range of services and products including engineering, design and development, right through to manufacturing bespoke products. As a tier 1 supplier to the premium automotive sector for interior components and wheels they are very much at the cutting edge of today's vehicle component market.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic engineer to join a growing engineering company, where you will have the opportunity to work within different departments gaining a greater understanding of the engineering sector.
Key Responsibilities
Lead delivery of projects to mandated deadlines which satisfy customer requirements and meet targeted budgets
Derive timing plans (including APQP gateways) to set out the necessary activities required for successful project delivery and estimate resource levels required to achieve
Organise and run regular meetings to ensure project deliverables are completed
Support Quality Team in completion of Team Feasibility sign off at appropriate gateways
Generate Design solutions that satisfy project requirements including checking and releasing outputted 3D data
Generate 2D CAD drawings to support project releases (CATIA)
Maintain BOM and associated drawings status at all stages of project and communicate updates to wider team (including sub-suppliers)
Ensure robust data management is employed for key project documents including 3D, drawings, customer specifications and process documentation
Communicate timing and technical requirements to sub-suppliers
Take ownership of generation of DVP including management of testing suppliers
Lead prototype build activities including purchase of sub-component quantities
Digest and understand measured geometry on development/pre-production parts and report conclusions and drive improvement actions
Oversee management of equipment and tooling purchase by Manufacturing and Process Engineers assisting with specification where required
Effectively manage change control on all NPI and current production designs
Tackle issues using appropriate problem-solving methods (including 8D for unknown root causes)
Utilise established processes to achieve objectives - Whether formal or informal
Ensure progress and output from assigned tasks are logged and communicated appropriately
Contribute to meeting Engineering Team KPI targets
Requirements
Completed and engineering related degree, with a minimum of a 2:1.
You will be a dynamic, flexible team player, personable and proficient in Microsoft Office. The role involves working as part of a small team and the successful candidate will be expected to get involved in all elements of the business.
Any previous exposure to engineering or the automotive sector is desirable but not essential.
Valid driving licence required for travel between sites and to customers/suppliers
