An excellent opportunity for a Horticultural Assistant to join a well-established company based in Burnham.

The Company:

They are a family business, established in 1947 and now one of the largest plant display companies in the country. They supply and maintain planted displays and flowers to businesses and local councils throughout London and the South East of England.

They are based in Burnham Beeches between Maidenhead and Slough, where they grow over a million plants a year under 2.5 acres of glasshouses.

They are looking to recruit a hard-working, enthusiastic, and reliable person to fill a permanent position planting and maintaining horticultural displays. You will be joining a workforce of over seventy full and part time colleagues, many of which have been working there for over ten years.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

* Planting and maintaining window-boxes on the outside of buildings, often from a ladder.

* Installing and removing hanging baskets on lamp columns.

* Installing often large and heavy plant displays inside and outside buildings.

* Watering window boxes and hanging baskets from our fleet of tankers.

* Watering, dusting, picking over and replanting interior plants in offices and hotels using large watering cans.

* Delivering and collecting vases of cut flower arrangements.

* Mowing grass, trimming hedges, collecting fallen leaves and other horticultural duties.

* Installing, decorating, and removing Christmas trees.

* Other work in connection with plants and flowers.

No experience is necessary as full on the job training will be provided. You will be working with experienced colleagues until you have been assessed as being qualified to be given your own duties.

Your training will include the opportunity to gain other qualifications such as PA1/PA6 herbicidal spraying, HGV driving, working from heights, use of power tools and many other skills.

Requirements:

* No horticultural experience, although this would be preferred.

* Full, clean UK or EU driving licence.

* Ability to get to our nursery to start at 5.00am.

* Enthusiastic and reliable team member.

* Knowledge of London streets an advantage.

* Paid an hourly rate, often with the opportunity to work up to 10-hour days.

* Opportunity to earn up to GBP28,000 pa or more.
