Are you an experienced Security Cleared Oracle Database Administrator looking to work for a company who value a work-life balance? Keen to develop your skills in an organization of more than 90,000 people?
My client, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), are looking for a contractor who can come in and hit the ground running. The successful person will work fully remotely and will also hold live SC level Security Clearance. The contract will be an initial 6-months and has been deemed inside of IR35. Umbrella rate: GBP500 p/d.
The role:
As an Oracle Database Administrator (Infrastructure Engineer) you will deal with the day to day management and development of infrastructure products and contribute towards their design and ultimate implementation.
The successful person will be working in the Data Platforms team and will be assigned as the primary contact for some critical services that directly affect the daily lives of UK citizens, such as our Central Payments system, paying over GBP100bn of payments every year or our VME-R environment that hosts systems such as Disability Living Allowance, Pensions and War Pensions.
Key tasks:
Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle both in the cloud and on-prem.
Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security for SQL server instances.
Analyse, solve, and correct issues within SLA timescales both in and out of hours
Perform scheduled maintenance (patching) and support release deployment activities both in hours and out of hours.
Minimum skills/experience:
AIX/Linux.
Oracle RAC or highly available databases/applications, Data Guard.
Oracle tools SQL Plus, RMAN, Datapump.
Exposure to/understanding of ASM.
Exposure to/understanding of AWS, Azure, OCS, Git.
Experience in automation unix shell scripting, python, perl, ansible, plsql.
How to diagnose issues.
Problem solving techniques to reach full RCA.
Working knowledge of ITIL framework and its processes.
