ASSISTANT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Burton-on-Trent

GBP32,000 per annum

Grafton Recruitment are looking to recruit an Assistant Development Manager to assist our client in achieving sales and margin growth by supporting new and existing product development projects and collaborating closely with customers, suppliers, and internal colleagues to provide the best customer service possible.

THE ROLE:

Key responsibilities as an Assistant Development Manager:

Establish and maintain strong, trustworthy working relationships with customers and suppliers through regular contact via meetings/communications.
Manage designated strategic customers from a product development standpoint, ensuring their product needs are met while responding positively to development briefs and requests.
'New Customers' working cross-functionally with sales to identify and pursue any new customers to the core business
Create commercially viable products that meet the needs of customers and have a positive impact on the client product portfolio.
Be proactive in product development; conduct market research and identify opportunities for customers and the client.
Pursue new opportunities or collaborate with current suppliers to develop successful products.
Make regular and relevant food presentations with customer and brand-focused products.
Gain a thorough understanding of our client current product line. Evaluate the product's quality in isolation and in comparison to relevant competitor products.
Record results in the product database and distribute them as needed to relevant colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
Effectively manage NPD and EPD projects from start to finish, ensuring product briefs are met and all deadlines are met within timeframes.
Create clear, concise development briefs for all projects and adhere to the concept-to-launch process. Refer to them throughout development to ensure that all goals are achieved.
Maintain close working relationships with suppliers, ensuring consistent communication and updates. Develop products in collaboration with them in the kitchen and factory. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the product.
Carefully plan all customer presentations. Present Creative Foods products with knowledge and professionalism.
Stay up to date on food and market trends. Collect useful reference materials such as menus, recipes, and competitor information. Collaborate closely with the marketing team.
Working with the marketing team to conduct food photography/videos as needed to help promote Creative Foods products.
Recognize NPD and EPD opportunities. Evaluate the size of the opportunity, share it internally with relevant parts of the business, and pursue those deemed significant in size.
Manage incoming samples and keep track of them in the samples inventory tracker, perform physical evaluations and reviews, and provide feedback to suppliers before sending them to customers.
Ensuring the working environment is kept safe and to a high hygienic standard at all times
Update the NPD activity trackers (NPD activity/Inventory) on a daily/weekly basis to ensure data is accurate, meaningful, and up to date.

THE CANDIDATE:

The ideal Assistant Development Manager:

Will encourage and help drive the site's food safety culture in order to prevent deviations in the process that compromise the safety, quality, and legality of our products
Will understand and follow Company policies and procedures that are applicable to both the site and the work environment.
Will carry any other duties deemed reasonable by your line manager or senior management to assist with business operations.
Experience in food development and /or experience back of house in branded pub/restaurants/QSR/retail
Culinary skills to develop innovative products and showcase at customer presentations
Flexible and easily adaptable
The ability to influence others
Attention to detail
Time management skills to achieve deadlines for all projects/allocated tasks
Ability to work as part of a team while also developing relationships with other departments
The ability to establish strong relationships with customers/suppliers
Strong communication skills (written/verbal/IT)
