Our Client based in Redditch is currently recruiting for a Legal Assistant within the Residential Conveyancing Department. Duties will include:
Responsible For:
Providing direct support to members of the Residential Conveyancing Department and working principally under the direct instruction and supervision of a Solicitor or trainee Solicitor within the Department and achieving performance targets as set by the Practice.
Purpose/Job Objectives:
To undertake administrative duties to assist with the accurate conduct to completion of general conveyancing transactions, to provide quotations to clients and prospective clients both verbally and in writing, and to assist with timely communications to clients, agents and other parties to the transaction as directed by your supervisor.
To positively promote the Company and its quality of service to clients, raising the quality level wherever possible.
Main Duties:
Under direction to assist with a varied caseload from instruction through to completion to include sale and purchase of residential properties both leasehold and freehold, reporting progress to your Supervising Solicitor.
To prepare correspondence, enclosures and documents and undertaking daily filing, opening closing, storage and retrieval of client files.
To liaise and build relationships with other professionals involved in property transactions including local estate agents.
To make appointments, arrange meetings and maintain the diary for yourself and your principal.
To make effective use of the Conveyancing case management systems.
To attend clients both in person and on the telephone in a professional manner ensuring that quality of service levels are to the highest standards.
Remain informed of changes in any area of specialisation, such that service quality is always maintained.
To follow internal methods, systems and procedures adhering to those Policies and Procedures as are recorded and held in hardcopy and within the firms' centralised area of the computer system.
To refer clients and others to the fee earner with conduct of the relevant file or to your Supervisor (or in their absence to another Conveyancing Solicitor within the Practice) if a client or other party requires any advice or assistance not of the expertise of yourself.
Other Duties:
To provide support to colleagues as required.
Skills, Experience, Qualifications:
Essential:
A good understanding of Conveyancing transactions, word processing skills and good personal
organisation skills.
Desirable:
Ability to progress miscellaneous tasks and projects pertaining to office administration and business development.
Broad based experience with any specialities useful to the Practice.
Expectations:
To be an active part of the team within the Property Department, assisting them with regard to your own experiences and skills to date
Other Relevant Requirements:
The ability to assist your principal in the management of a diverse caseload; and the ability to do so when under pressure of time constraints imposed
