We have an opportunity available for a Progress Mentor to join our team based in Northwich. The role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis (37 hours per week term time only plus 5 days in the College holidays). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of GBP22,989 per annum FTE (GBP19,649 actual salary per annum).
About the role:
The Achievement and Support department is at the heart of the college and working as a Progress Mentor offers colleagues the opportunity to make a real difference to students. The successful applicants will work as part of an experienced team to support the well-being, social and personal development needs of students. The role is varied and we are looking for adaptable, flexible and resourceful individuals who can manage constantly changing priorities.
Hours of work are 37 hours per week, 8.30 am to 4.30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 8.30 am to 4.00 pm on Friday term time only (plus five days in the College holidays).
Your responsibilities as our Progress Mentor will include:
Delivering a resourced personal development programme ensuring a high quality and consistent experience for all students
Acting as a role model in relation to equality and student wellbeing
Acting as a Mental Health First Aider, giving advice guidance and support to students and signposting to further information as appropriate
Manging, monitoring and ensuring timely intervention in individual student attendance to ensure that the College KPIs relating to attendance are met
Conducting one-to-one meetings with individual students to provide individual support and guidance
Setting SMART targets and tracking and monitoring student achievement, retention and attendance rates, taking appropriate action where improvement is required
Maintaining appropriate records, both paper and electronic, and ensuring all appropriate administration is completed in relation to each student
Coordinating and advising on the completion of UCAS application forms including gathering the specific subject references
Supporting students in developing employability skills and gaining relevant work experience
Providing information and offering impartial advice/guidance on future plans, and facilitating access to specific careers advice where more specialist knowledge is needed
What we're looking for in our ideal Progress Mentor:
Degree level qualification
Willingness to undertake appropriate training
Expereince successfully working directly with students/young people either in an education or other environment
Experience and/or knowledge of careers advice and guidance
Experience and/or knowledge of employability skills
