Estimator - Private Residential / Construction
Bridport, Dorset
Salary up to GBP60,000 + Car Allowance + 25 Days Holiday + Pension
Blaymires Recruitment is representing a professional building contractor based near Bridport, Dorset who are searching for an experienced Estimator.
The company is well known for undertaking refurbishment and new build projects and has earned a first-class reputation for successfully completing a variety of projects for high end private clients, local authorities, housing associations, insurance companies with contracts ranging up to GBP1.5 Million.
The company is steadily expanding and is seeking a motivated Estimator or Senior Estimator who can price residential and commercial projects.
Main Responsibilities
* Undertake all estimating duties.
* Estimating primarily high-end residential and commercial works.
* Take ownership of the estimating process and follow a robust estimating procedure including managing all enquiries to sub-contractors, choosing applicable sub-contractors, and communicating other bid requirements to members of the bid team.
* Liaising with Clients, Architect or PQS, establishing the bid requirements for submission, agreeing responsibility for the bid requirements, setting up and chairing tender launch, mid bid and settlement meetings, liaising with the Directors to ensure the bid is submitted to company standards.
* Completing quantity take offs as required and completing schedules of work, or bills of quantities if applicable.
* Thoroughly analysing sub-contract returns (including sub-contract comparisons) and engaging with the supply chain throughout the bid to ensure suitable returns are provided.
Knowledge/Skills
* HNC in Construction or relevant Degree level qualification.
* Detailed knowledge of private residential building contracting.
* Have a good understanding of traditional building methods and products associated with the refurbishment of listed buildings and high-end residential construction.
* Have a good working knowledge MS Office.
* Strong numeracy and financial management skills and the ability to learn construction IT packages.
* Ability to complete take offs and produce detailed schedules of work when required.
