About Us

The Brecon Beacons National Park Authority (BBNP) protects the natural beauty, wildlife, and cultural heritage of Brecon Beacons National Park.

We are now looking for a Canals, Communities & Wellbeing Access Officer to join our Canals, Communities and Well Being (CCWB) project in the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park. This is an exciting opportunity that is funded through the Welsh Government’s ENRaW grant and runs until May 2023.

The Role

As the Canals, Communities & Wellbeing Access Officer, you will be tasked with delivering the CCWB project in liaison with the Project Board, Steering Group and Project Team.

The project is a collaboration of five organisations and is focused on the Montgomery and Monmouthshire and Brecon Canals, within Powys and the Brecon Beacons National Park. The project aims to reduce physical, confidence and perception barriers to access to the countryside and increase access to and engagement with biodiversity and greenspace.

You will project manage work within the BBNP, identifying developing and delivering access and biodiversity into the area as well as co-ordinating team members, procuring goods and services and obtaining landowner agreement for the project.

About You

- A degree-level qualification in a relevant subject and demonstrable experience of countryside access management
- Experience of countryside and access project development and delivery
- An understanding and experience of The Equalities Act and its practical implementation
- Experience of procurement and management of contractors and volunteers
- Experience of health and safety management including production of risk assessments
- Experience of reporting and evaluation
- Experience of team co-ordination
- A full, valid driving licence
