On behalf of our client, a UK wide charity which have been providing advice and support to individuals and families as well as providing research funding for over 70 years, we are seeking a Volunteer Support Officer to cover a full time contract for 6 months with the possibility of extension. This role will be based in Belfast as well as a work from home rota (usually 3 days office, 2 days work from home per week).

The Volunteer Support Officer will play a key role in supporting the Northern Ireland operations to re-engage people in face-to-face events and activities following the easing of COVID restrictions. The postholder will need to demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for encouraging and supporting people to volunteer and contribute to their community.

Duties will include:

* Coordinate current and new initiatives, working collaboratively both internally and externally to help deliver the Northern Ireland strategy

* Ensure the capture and analysis of all data from activities, events, groups and volunteers in line with policies and systems

* Extend the charities reach and impact by developing, promoting and coordinating a range of activities, events and groups, both online and face to face, using a variety of models and tools

* Coordinate and deliver training for local communities, groups, and volunteers.

* Be responsible for communication with volunteers and groups through newsletters, meetings and phone calls, ensuring they are all kept up to date.

* Point of contact for all volunteers and support groups.

* Support volunteers with the logistics of volunteering. Ensure volunteers attend correct training, access to expenses and fully understand how to use Assemble.

* Plan and develop the online peer support and befriender services.

* Working with organisations, community groups and other charities to raise awareness and create volunteering opportunities.

Applicants will need:

1. Educated to A level standard or equivalent or have relevant experience in similar work

2. Ability to formulate and communicate clear messages in a range of formats including but not exclusive to reports, presentations and social media

3. Competence in using a range of IT systems and packages, CRM/data management systems and online platforms to communicate effectively with a range of audiences

4. Experience of working in a support role with groups both face to face and online

5. Ability to engage, motivate and empower volunteers providing support and direction and enabling them to engage in a range of opportunities using excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

6. Ability to engage with other groups and organisations, promoting the Charity and identifying areas for collaboration.

7. Experience of engaging individuals, groups or communities that are seldom heard and may not be easily visible (desirable).

8. Be self-motivated with an ability to work well under pressure and prioritise workload, knowing when to escalate appropriately.

9. Demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach with an ability to work on own initiative.

10. Full driving licence and own car. (mileage allowance paid)

The post holder can expect a salary of GBP18588 - GBP20000 pro rata. This role is 34 hours per week and is primarily during office hours however the post holder will need to be flexible to enable them to attend meetings outside normal office hours (time in lieu).
