Discovery Care has been in the industry of adult care since 2004 and has evolved with time introducing more and more advanced methods of offering bespoke care for service users. We believe in the concept that our residents don't live in our place of work, we work in their home.

As a Senior Carer you'll put residents at the heart of everything we do. you will look after the physical, emotional, and social needs of the residents using a person centred approach while promoting the client's choice, independence, dignity, privacy, etc.

Vacancy Overview:

* The candidate will need to apply their knowledge and understanding of care and support and offer bespoke care to our residents. They will need to encourage the independence and motivation of our residents and encourage them to not foster dependent behaviours. They will act at times as "Key Workers" for clients with special and specific needs.

* They will assist the residents with either day to day activities or ad hoc activities as required which will include Getting up in the morning and going to bed at night; Wash bathe and shower; Dress and undress; Look after their skin, teeth, hair and nails; With toileting, continence management and personal hygiene, etc A higher level of responsibility with handling medication will also come with this position.

* They will need to ensure that any situation out of the ordinary or any accident or untoward incident will be handled or reported to the home management.

* They will need to maintain detailed accurate records in respect of care and medication support given and tasks undertaken in residents care plans or convey relevant information about the service users to the manager on shift in order that the individual plan of care may be regularly updated

* When required they will assist with light general household domestic duties, including housework and laundry, as detailed in the care plan or instructed by Management

* They will need to take responsibility for the safe handling of property and equipment belonging to the residents and care home.

* They will need to ensure the environment is as safe as possible for the Client, whilst respecting the Client's choice and rights

* They will be required to promote self hygiene and dress appropriately, wearing uniform and using the personal protective equipment provided.

* They will need to ensure that the people your service supports are protected from abuse and neglect; to follow the Safeguarding Procedure and, if you witness or suspect abuse, to report it promptly as required by the procedure

* They will help maintain a safe environment for staff, residents and visitors, through awareness of health and safety policies and by attending training as required.

* They will take part in reviews of prospective service users and help complete assessments and care plans.

Personal Qualities Required:

* A Self-starter attitude would be ideal.

* As we provide adult care we expect the candidate to be caring, compassionate, respectful and have a positive attitude towards adults with disabilities.

Apprenticeship Information:

Over the course of 15 - 18 months (dependent upon the level of course an apprentice is being enrolled onto), you will study modules such as personal development in care settings, the responsibilities of a care worker, handling information in care settings, implementing person-centred care plans, safeguarding & protection in care settings, duty of care in care settings, communication in care settings, equality & inclusion in care settings and health & safety and wellbeing in care settings (these units may differ).

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, you will achieve a Level 2 or 3 qualification and a TQUK Diploma in Care.

If you do not hold GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent), these will be delivered alongside the apprenticeship programme.

Our delivery of training is through blended learning. Supported by one of our sector specialist tutors, they will deliver teaching sessions using various methods including face to face teaching, Skype, Facetime, telephone and peer virtual classroom whilst using our interactive multi-sensory teaching resources. Teaching sessions are normally bi-weekly or monthly, depending on the learner's preferred learning style. Additionally, the tutor will provide the support required to ensure the learner enjoys and ultimately successfully achieves their goals and completes their training. We want learners to feel that our team are approachable at any stage of their learning journey.

You will initially take an online assessment that will help us to understand your learning style and needs, then we will tailor your learning experience accordingly. We ensure that you stay on track to complete your programme on time by managing your expectations through our state-of-the-art e-portfolio system. At the end of your programme, your learnt knowledge, skills and behaviours will be assessed by an independent assessor in your end point assessment (EPA).

As part of the apprenticeship, alongside your job role, 20% of your time in work must be dedicated to developing new skills. This can be any time devoted to learning and improving new skills without interruption.

Future Prospect:

Upon completion of the apprenticeship a permanent employment contractual agreement may be signed.

Additional Details:

* Level 2 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship. Duration is 12 months.

* Hours will be based on a rota system
