Job Title: Senior Analytical Chemist

Industry: Chemical Manufacturing

Location: Cambridgeshire

Salary: GBP28,000 - GBP33,000

Benefits: Pension, Private Health Care and Medical Cash Plan, 20 days holiday with one extra day earned per yer in employment, up to 10 additional days

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm, with a 30 minute unpaid break (37.5 hours per week)

The Role

We are recruiting for a Senior Scientist to carry out Method Validation of chemical products and medical devices. The role will include testing within the laboratory and writing protocols and reports, so will be split between lab and office environments. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys thinking "outside the box" and would be a good career move for an Analytical Chemist who would like to spend less time on the bench.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, carrying out and writing up verification and validation protocols and reports for chemical disinfectants and detergents used in medical and industrial settings.
  • Maintaining the verification for existing products.
  • Creating new verifications for new product developments and establishing the requirements for each individual development project.
  • Representing Technical Validation within product development project teams. Often more than one project at any given time.
  • Ensuring the regular maintenance and qualification of lab equipment and machinery.
  • Keeping up with new and updated industry norms or standards, to keep methodology and practices 'state-of-the-art'.
  • Working closely with microbiologist to help fulfil sample requirements for external laboratories or institutes.
  • Ensuring general laboratory upkeep and cleanliness.
  • Adherence to company health and safety, and quality policies/procedures.

Qualifications, experience and skills required

  • BSc qualified in Chemistry or a related Scientific discipline
  • Previous laboratory experience (academic or industry)
  • Proven experience in the chemical / pharmaceutical industry and a desire to gain knowledge in medical device product validation is a must for this role
  • High level of competency with MS Office and fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of chemical health and safety awareness
  • You will need to be a driver with access to a vehicle due to location
  • The ability to "think outside of the box" would be beneficial
  • Most importantly, a positive attitude with the ability to take ownership of tasks
