We currently have an opportunity available for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time, permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of GBP25,500 per annum, increasing to GBP30,000 over the 2 years, plus excellent benefits including relocation support and an annual bonus.

What's it all about?

The Quantity Surveyor Graduate placement has been designed to provide a clear pathway for development within the Investor Relations function.

As part of the team you will be responsible for monitoring and analysing costs across a range of operational contracts, minimising any potential or future liabilities and focussed on providing value for money.

What you'll be doing:

  • Analysis of all costs associated with all operational contracts
  • Reviewing and developing cost models to support any changing business requirements, contract renewals and commercial tender activity
  • Producing cost and performance reporting support monthly contract reviews
  • Developing expertise in the operation of Pennon Group Contracts and New Engineering Contracts (NEC3 & NEC4)
  • Management and review of any inflation indices and price increase requests
  • Developing and implementing processes that support cost control
  • Developing Whole Life Cycle costing models and contributing to developing and supporting related business processes
  • Providing support and advice to the Commercial & Contract Manager and the wider Operations Management team as required

What we are looking for in you:

  • Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management Degree or equivalent accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • Confident, proactive and flexible with a willingness to develop and learn
  • Resilient, with the ability to perform well under pressure
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills enabling effective communication with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and analytical skills - ensuring information is accurate and appropriate for the audience, including the Board and key external stakeholders
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a highly detail-oriented approach
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to adapt to different and changing work priorities, timings of meetings and deliverables
  • Ability to work effectively in both a team and under own initiative
  • Able to work accurately, prioritise work and manage time effectively
