SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
Permanent, full-time
Hours: 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: Between £36,351 & £38,972 per annum. Progression is on an annual increment scale to £41,248 per annum
The College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hardworking Senior Software Developer to join the Management Information Systems (MIS) team. The post holder will be required to take a leading role in developing software for the management of college data and manage the integration of the MIS system with other college wide systems.
The post is available with immediate effect on a permanent, full-time basis. The hours of work are from 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (with 45 minutes unpaid lunch break).
The role of Senior Software Developer is important to the successful development of the College operational systems including learning, administration, and data analysis software.
The College is committed to the development and evolution of its systems and the post holder will be expected to take a leading role in the complete software lifecycle, from analysis and design through to end user support, as well as play an active part in the wider work of the MIS Team.
The role will involve working with a collection of software systems, the majority of which are home grown and have been tailored to the processes and procedures used within the College. The development and improvement of these systems will be an essential part of the post.
The ideal candidate will have a high level of experience in programming, which will enable you to work on a variety of projects. Essential skills include the ability to write and develop applications in a variety of programming languages, including Java. Previous experience of working with SQL databases is essential. Excellent IT and problem-solving skills will be required in addition to experience in developing web based front ends to databases. Previous experience of working with MIS systems in an educational environment is not essential.
