We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our established Estates team, to carry out the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across the University campus.

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking routine and emergency maintenance tasks such as testing fire alarms, office maintenance such as changing lamps, moving furniture and checking room temperatures and general painting and decorating.

This role will also provide support to the trade team to carry out simple repairs where a qualified professional is not require. Task will include replacing taps, cistern washers and toilet seats, along with servicing door locks and similar duties.

Personal Specification:

Essential

  • Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent work experience
  • Competent in building service and maintenance in a similar environment
  • Experience in working in either plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrics, bricklaying
  • Experience of general caretaking
  • Understanding of tasks which need to be carried out by a qualified professional
  • Full Clean Driving Licence

Desirable

  • Knowledge of H&S documents including RAMS, SSOWs, COSHH
  • PASMA
  • IPAF
