Trainee ICT Service Desk Technician

Cambridge

Looking to start a challenging and rewarding career in ICT? We have an opportunity for a Trainee ICT Technician to join our Cambridge office for an immediate start.

By joining us as a Trainee ICT Technician you will be able to study for professional qualifications, recognised by BCS – The Chartered Institute for IT, whilst also gaining vital hands-on, task-focussed work experience in our busy and varied ICT Department. Established in 1889, Ensors is one of East Anglia’s oldest and most respected firms of Chartered Accountants. We have an excellent reputation for staff development, and you will join us at an exciting stage in our ongoing digital development plans.

You will follow formal training through an apprenticeship framework for the Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification. We would expect applicants to be non-graduates and require you to have either a minimum of 3 A levels at Grade C or above OR demonstrate the equivalent standard in a business or ICT related vocational qualification. We also require a minimum attainment of Grade 5 in GCSE English AND either Computer Science, ICT, Maths or Science. Once you have successfully completed the Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification, you may go on to continue your studies focusing on Cyber Security, Data Analysis or Network Engineering.

Key skills required:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, thoughtful and considered manner.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to explain ideas to people who aren’t familiar with them.
  • Self-motivated, hardworking and flexible.
  • Ambitious with drive and resilience.
  • Enthusiasm with a keen interest in learning and professional development.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an eye for detail.

A driving licence and access to own transport will be helpful, as occasional travel between our offices will be required.

We have a fantastic study support package to offer. The firm will pay all tuition and Institute fees and you will also be entitled to paid time off for your studies, along with mentoring support. You must also be prepared to dedicate some of your own time to studying.

Our ICT ServiceDesk is the first point of contact for any ICT issues experienced from across the business.

As part of the wider ICT Department we can provide a varied role encompassing ServiceDesk, Cyber Security, data analysis, infrastructure and cloud. We can therefore offer you a stimulating and varied portfolio of work. Find out more about working at Ensors on our website: https://www.ensors.co.uk/about-us/workingatensors/
