Project Surveyor (H335)

Grade SO2 (SCP 26 - 28) £30,451 - £32,234 plus Essential Car User allowance (currently under review)

The role will involve covering an on call out of hours service on a rota basis.

Two Permanent full time posts (37 hours)

We are looking for a dynamic and customer focussed Project Surveyor to join our Repairs and Investment Team in Landlord Services. Reporting to the project Building Surveying Team Leader you will play a lead role in the successful management of specific capital works programmes under this and other contracts to improve our housing stock of over 5700 properties.

With the ability to successfully work in partnership, you will ensure that our objectives around high quality, communication, and customer care are delivered, in line with agreed budgets, and that key performance indicators are met.

The role requires candidates to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of building construction methods and materials sufficient to identify and diagnose defects, and arrive at appropriate solutions.

A HNC in construction or an equivalent qualification in a construction / trade related discipline is required, along with a full driving licence and use of a vehicle (an essential car user allowance will be paid).

With your contract management knowledge, you will be able to manage the progress of a project from implementation to post completion of work within the CDM regulations ensuring as far as reasonably practicable the Health, Safety and Wellbeing of site operatives, residents and members of the public. You will manage the performance and co-ordination of Charnwood’s Principle Contractor and nominated sub-contractors, carrying out regular pre surveys, monitoring work in progress, and conducting handover inspections to tenanted properties within the Charnwood area to ensure that the Councils high quality expectations are delivered.

You will be able to create specifications of works for varied items including but not restricted to roofing, kitchens, bathrooms, disabled adaptations, and estate works, structural and damp works, and preparation of tender documents and commissioning work.

Using Charnwood’s in house project management system you will have IT skills sufficient to update and manage a scheme of works, and will be familiar with Microsoft office applications.

With a population of over 171,000, Charnwood is one of the largest district councils in the country in terms of the number of residents. The borough sits centrally between the three cities of Nottingham, Derby and Leicester, extending from the town of Loughborough in the north to the edge of Leicester to the south.

Charnwood is easily accessible from the M1 and the high speed rail link between Sheffield and London.

The role is subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
