This role requires flexible working, as the post holder will work within the community, from home and when necessary from the Encompass office based in Sutton Gate.

The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for an Housing Advice & Prevention Manager to lead our fast paced Housing team with direct line management responsibility for 4 members of staff including 3 team leaders and a Statutory Reviews Officer.

This post is based in the Housing Advice, Information and Assessment Service, the postholder will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of an efficient, high quality and responsive advice and assessment service for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, ensuring that applicants' housing and support needs are assessed and met in line with statutory guidance, the company's policies and procedures and legislation.

This is a full time (36 hours per week) post. There is an annual leave entitlement of 25 days plus Bank Holidays. Basic salary is GBP45,352.00 per annum

The Person

The Housing Advice & Prevention Team Manager must have experience of managing and leading a team in the field of housing advice and/or homelessness and delivering a casework management service along with comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation including Housing Act 1996 Part VI and VII, and associated code of guidance and case law, security of tenure and possession proceedings and Welfare Benefits including Universal Credit.

In this role you must have the ability to:

  • Deliver complex service activities and manage caseloads to ensure intended outcomes for customers, the local authority and Encompass LATC are delivered within agreed service standards.
  • Liaise with customers, stakeholders and partners to review service requirements and resolve problems.
  • Lead on the development of specific policies, procedures and protocols to contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.
  • Coordinate the work of the service to ensure individual and team objectives are delivered to a high standard.
  • Understand and keep up to date with changes in relevant policy and legislation to ensure delivery is effective and complies with appropriate regulations/statutory guidance.
  • Respond to legal challenges and mitigate risk.
