Our client is an established, and growing manufacturer of personal care and cosmetic product including the bath care, skincare, haircare, tanning, baby and perfume categories. They offer a full service to their customers from creating formulations, to manufacturing, filling, storage pick, pack, delivery and compliance. They are fully accredited with BRC, ISO22716, SEDEX and Cosmos. They work with some of the UK's biggest retailers and brand owners and own the distribution and licensing rights to various brands in their own name.

Due to ongoing expansion, they require a Purchasing Manager to join their team.

Key Elements of the role:

To provide senior and experienced management of the purchasing department for the business. To determine the requirements and optimum stock levels against the business demand via an effective purchasing strategy. Create consolidation of stock, management and ownership of the full inventory.

Main Elements:

* To deliver an effective procurement strategy in conjunction with the business needs.

* Building and managing relationships with suppliers.

* Negotiating contracts with suppliers.

* Liaising closely with various stakeholders, internal and external, to ensure the availability and timeliness of materials for production across the sites.

* Head up the Supply Chain team to continually drive process and procedural improvements in the daily work. Including the management of Category Buyers and Administrative support.

* Agreeing Standard Costs and report on Standard Cost Variances achieved monthly.

* Identify and manage current stock to reduce actual spend and prevent duplication of purchases. Consolidation of materials for use with current components to create agreed finished good packs.

* Implementation of a purchasing policy including retrospective discount negotiation, group discounts, agree supplier stock holding volumes.

* Reduction in SKU count by consolidation of inventory across the customer base.

The ideal candidate will:

* Have considerable experience in a comparable industry: personal care, pharma, or food supply chains.

* Be CIPS Qualified level 4 or above with demonstrable purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.

* Computer literate with excellent general IT skills, ideally including a good understanding of Excel.

* Good organisational and time management skills.

* Ability to communicate with people at all levels of the business, both in person and via email.

* Have strong attention to detail.

* Be self-motivated, determined and driven to develop the role.

* Work well under pressure with the ability to work to strict deadlines.

* A proactive team player who is honest, hardworking, and reliable.

* A 2nd EU language would be advantageous but not essential
