We have a fantastic opportunity for a Test Engineer to join our Medical Device Client at their Innovation Centre in Cambridge. You will provide lab-based testing expertise for the development of new drug delivery devices and manage and monitor the lab spaces and equipment, contributing to all stages of testing activities for Innovation projects. This includes the creation of test protocols, designing / procuring test apparatus and analysis of results.

The in-house Innovation team consists of around 40 professionals working in partnership with Customers to bring new ideas to the market and create a new generation of drug delivery devices. At the Innovation Centre you can experience designs that go from early concept stage right through to manufacture for patient use.

As a Test Engineer at the Innovation Centre you will:

Define experimental method(s) and apparatus, including creation of test protocols, to ensure tests are carried out according to requirements.

Design, procure, build and verify test apparatus to ensure that it is adequate for testing, ensuring that test equipment operators are trained accordingly to operate the apparatus.

Utilising project knowledge and engineering knowledge to draft extracts of reports for review and input into (client) reports.

Oversee the maintenance of the lab equipment and ensure best practices regarding safety are adhered to.

Undertake, monitor and manage calibration and validation of the test apparatus and lab equipment.

Liaise with and support internal colleagues to ensure testing requirements are understood and carried out effectively meeting operational and customer needs.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have the following skills, experience and knowledge:

Educated to level 5 (or equivalent) in an engineering subject or similar

Industrial experience in test programs / writing reports and the ability to collect, analyse and interpret data

Knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques and processes

Ability to complete repetitive tasks

Experience of injection moulded products ideal
