Full or part-time, term-time only (39 weeks per year).
Hours: are either: -
From 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (85.62%), or
From 8.30am to 12.30pm, Monday to Friday (47.02%), or
From 12.30pm to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (47.02%), or
From 8.30am to 4.30pm, for 2 or 3 days per week (35.09% or 51.13%)
Salary: FTE £20,177 to £23,378 per annum to be pro-rata’d depending on the number of hours worked.
The College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hardworking Science Technician to join the College’s Science Technician Team. The successful applicant will primarily work with the Biology department, but the ability to work with Chemistry and Physics would be an advantage. The successful applicant will be required to work with staff and students on the courses to support practical elements of learning in the labs, as well as maintain equipment and high standards of health and safety.
Previous experience of working with teenagers is desirable, but not essential. The post holder will spend a significant amount of the working day interacting with students, so the ability to feel confident in the presence of and communicating with young adults is essential. The role requires experience of working with science apparatus and resources e.g., chemicals.
The post requires commitment and flexibility in the approach to work, with the ability to remain calm at all times. Occasional evening work is required for which time off in lieu will be given.
