Position Summary

We are expanding our existing team of Locomotive Engineers at our Depot in Shepton Mallet and are looking to engage an Electro/Mech Technical Fitter to commence work in 2022

Working as part of an experienced and succinct engineering team, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Safety and Maintenance of the Companies busy Fleet of Diesel / Electric Locomotive stock in line with company Standards and Procedures

Person Profile/Experience:

A skilled Electrical Technician with a sound mechanical capability and ideally time served, you will have previous experience of undertaking maintenance, service and repair work on Diesel Locomotives, HGV's/PSV's/Heavy Mobile Plant, Automotive or Military Vehicles. You'll have the ability to make sound engineering decisions and will have good communication skills, written and oral.

You may have a current PTS but this is not essential as successful candidates will undertake a local PTS course where required

Adhere to health and safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards. Comply with all instructions, rules and regulations in force
Maintain, service, fault find and repair Locomotives in accordance with the approved maintenance plans as required by the local manager
Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed on time and to required company standards

You will be physically fit and healthy, you will be required to undertake a NWR related medical and drugs & alcohol test which must be passed before any offer can be made, have a good sense of humour and be prepared to work outdoors where required. You will ideally have a full (clean) driving license and be flexible enough to travel to other local sites in the region from time to time

Due to the nature of the work/role, an appreciation of H&S at work is essential, plus in line with Rail Industry Protocols there is a zero policy re being under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol

Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a Mechanical/Electrical fitting skill set
Experience essential
Good sense of humour
Excellent work ethic, reliable and punctual
