Job title: Payroll Specialist
Job location: Derby
Rate: GBP28.50 per hour PAYE
We are recruiting for a Payroll Specialist to join a global engineering company based in Derby on an initial six month contract.
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery (based on service level agreements) of payroll and reporting to both the business and external authorities.
They are responsible for ensuring the payroll vendor operations team delivers services in accordance with the terms of the contract and service level agreements.
This role requires actively working with and contributing to the other functions within HR Operations and CoE to ensure delivery of a legally compliant payroll.
The Payroll Specialist will actively encourage and support the use of LEAN tools to develop continuous improvement mind set within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
*Provide 1st line support for resolving complex payroll specific queries within defined SLAs and support Payroll Specialists in resolving standard payroll specific queries as needed.
*Escalation point for issues related to 3rd party interfaces i.e. 3rd party benefits providers, social security agencies etc.
*Provide coaching for colleagues on payroll related issues. Ensure personal knowledge of payroll specific information is maintained and shared across team
*Manage and approve change requests identified by team members ensuring ongoing policy and business process changes are reflected in the payroll solution.
*Co-ordinate delivery of country specific payroll related processes throughout the year (i.e. year end salary change, bonus, year end reconciliations, etc.)
*Control and Approve payroll results for the defined employee groups/union contract region
*Proactively identify processing issues and areas for process improvement. Propose and implement solutions to address issues or areas for improvement. Actively encourage the team to utilize LEAN processes and tools to implement the identified process improvements.
*Manage operational relationship with 3rd party payroll provider to ensure satisfactory resolution on issues and enhancements to the payroll solution
*Manage 3rd Party provider in relation to implementation of legislative changes, to ensure correct implementation.
*Identify & communicate with other HR Work Stream Leads to ensure successful implementation of payroll related changes in policy and/or process
Required Skills and Experience:
Degree Level in relevant subject (e.g. Finance, Economics) or relevant experience
Payroll Qualification preferred
Extensive knowledge of general payroll systems from one or more countries.
Relevant experience required (i.e. directly linked to the requirements of the position/role)
3-5 years of work experience in similar position
Proficiency in English.
Thorough understanding of Payroll processes and systems.
In-depth experience in legislation related to payroll
Experience of largescale HR/Payroll systems is essential
