The Team & Focus of the Role

We are looking for an excellent storyteller who can transform ideas and information into interesting blogs, case studies and videos.

With a focus on external channels, you will be responsible for producing client-facing communications, working closely with a wide variety of teams to turn content into attractive and engaging multimedia pieces.

To be successful in this job you need to love writing. From articles and thought leadership pieces through to job adverts, social media posts and brochures, you will have a knack for turning basic information into flowing, engaging text which is written with a client audience in mind.

We work across the six main property sectors - rural, residential, development, commercial, sustainable energy, and utilities & infrastructure - so your workload will be varied and interesting, but will require you to flex your style to meet a range of stakeholder needs. No two days will be the same, and you will find yourself writing on topics ranging from our strive to Net Zero, to diversification on farmland, and the underground network of pipelines we manage across the UK.

We are looking for someone passionate about good communication, who can work well with others and is not afraid to challenge the status quo and come up with new ideas!

Duties will include:

• Working with different teams to produce excellent written copy, including on our website, on social media and business reports

• Working with colleagues from across the business to create engaging video content for a wide range of purposes

• Co-ordinating a schedule of content for the news section of our website

• Liaising with our PR agency to proofread and edit press releases to ensure a consistent, quality approach

• Suggesting ideas and approaching our in-house experts on key industry topics to produce relevant and timely content, including ghost-writing on their behalf

• Monitoring and reporting on our external comms activity, using media monitoring software and working closely with our PR agency to provide recommendations on what works well and what doesn't

• Working closely with the Senior Communications Manager to ensure consistency of tone and voice throughout all our communication channels, always linking back to our vision and values

• Working with others in our Shared Services team to provide written copy of excellent standards, for example job adverts, award entries and website copy

The successful candidate will have...

• A strong grasp of English language writing, grammar and punctuation, with a minimum A-level equivalent in English Language, Literature, History or other written subject. A degree equivalent qualification is preferable.

• Experience writing content for a range of audiences and industries.

• A real passion for storytelling.

• A proactive, professional approach and good stakeholder management skills.

• A flexible attitude to work, willing to pick up projects at short notice and often with little direction.

• Some experience filming and editing videos would be desirable however on-the-job training can also be provided for the right candidate.

• Experience working in the property or utilities industries would be helpful but not essential.

• A minimum of 1 years' experience working in a similar role, either in communications, marketing, journalism or another similar field

We are ideally looking for someone to work full-time but are willing to consider reduced hours and flexible working requests for the right candidate. While we require the candidate to be visit our Head Office in Ashby-de-la-Zouch regularly, we offer hybrid working and will consider applications from further afield with the option of also working from other offices in our network.
