Bure Park Specialist Academy, a proud member of the Boudica Schools Trust, is a residential school for boys in the age range 7 - 16 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, and will be the campus you will be working at.
We offer a range of excellent benefits including strong staff support and development programmes. You will be required to participate in a sleep-in rota where you will stay overnight in the school, 1 night per week during term time.
The Role - Childcare Officer:
You will be responsible for the care and leisure time activities of a group of children under the supervision of the Senior Childcare Officer and will hold a case load of up to 6 pupils. Duties include:
* Observing and recording pupils' behaviour and progress
* Holding responsibility for the care and control of training and counselling of students in personal and social competence
* Engaging individuals and groups of pupils in constructive, enterprising and a socially extending range of leisure pursuits
* Maintaining clear and impartial communication between education and care staff, and the senior management team
* Monitoring the quality of relationships between pupils, staff and pupils, and between staff
* Attending meetings to discuss the children
* Acting as the main contact for children's' families
* Taking part in the Norfolk Steps initial and advanced training
Person specification - Childcare Officer:
* You will be a caring, conscientious and reliable individual
* Holding interests outside the curriculum that lend themselves to leading activities with children is advantageous
* Must hold an NVQ 2 and happy to work towards a BTEC Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent
* First aid trained
* A Full Driving Licence is desirable
* Previous experience working with young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties is highly advantageous
* Able to communicate clearly and tactfully, verbally or written, using appropriate methods
* Able to build and maintain positive relationships
* An awareness of health and safety, and safeguarding within a school environment
Terms of Role:
* Hours: Full Time during Term Times plus 1 week, Permanent. 42 hours per week + 1x sleep-in per week during term time.
* Salary: GBP22,183 - GBP24,491 per annum pro-rata (GBP17,969 - GBP19,838 per annum gross) + sleep-in allowance.
