Tooling Technician sought on by a world leader in the manufacture of automotive components. They provide quality products, services and solutions worldwide with customers in over 150 countries.

The Role:
Working on rotating shifts, as a Tooling Technician you will be responsible for:

Setting and changing of low pressure foam (clam type) Aluminium moulds.
Repair, rebuild and re-profile damaged aluminium tooling using a combination of welding, pneumatic and electric hand tools.
Modify and reshape aluminium tools in line with requests, e.g.: addition of vents, posts, magnet placement, auto vents and block additions using hand tools.
Inspect, clean, reseal, "blue-up" tools, test and confirm electrical and pneumatic operation of tools as they are released to production.
Maintain tooling carriers including aspects of low control voltage sensors and pneumatic circuits.
Attend breakdowns, identify fault and problem solve with minimal downtime to aid production.
Evaluate each job and determine if it can be repaired on run or must be removed to Tool Room for essential maintenance
Liaise with production, quality and process departments in regard to problem solving and audits.
Operate FLT and lifting equipment.
Carry out planned Preventative Maintenance
Support, train, mentor and develop tool room team members.
Operate and use tooling data base, to store, report condition and pick tools.
Assist the tooling coordinator to develop and implement new initiatives improving RFT, tooling and carrier repairs.
Work within 5s methodology to maintain workplace to a high standard.
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
Maintain a safe working environment and comply with the Company's H&S Policy.
Working rotating shifts - usually AM and PM but with occasional nights as required.
The successful Tooling Technician will demonstrate:

Time Served Apprenticeship, with an appropriate craft or technical qualification, Ideally HNC/HND or equivalent.
Knowledge of chemical mould tooling and PU foam manufacturing functionality, strengths and weaknesses would be an advantage.
Experienced in process optimisation
Strong background and tool making/maintaining experience, preferably in the PUR chemical mould environment.
Experience in welding (aluminium MIG and TIG)
Experience in using overhead cranes
FLT counterbalance / Reach Truck licence
Have a working knowledge of pneumatics and control voltage sensors.
Good problem solving skills.
Good interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and achieve business objectives.
