Contract: Permanent

Salary: GBP25/26k pa + tips

Location: Hemingford Grey, PE28

Hours of work: Flexible, rotation (Average 45 hours p/w)

Start date: Immediately

A charming country pub and restaurant serving modern British cuisine, you will be assisting the Head Chef/Sous Chef, as a Junior Sous Chef duties will include: -

Lead the kitchen team in Head Chef's absence and provide guidance to junior kitchen staff members.

Oversee and organise kitchen stock and ingredients.

Keep cooking stations stocked throughout the day.

Train new kitchen employees to restaurant and kitchen standards.

Manage food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimising waste.

Ensure a 'first-in first-out' food rotation system is followed and verify all food products are properly dated and organised.

Supervise all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards.

Assists head chef with menu creation.

Coordinate with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing.

The successful candidate will:

Ideally have formal culinary training.

Have previous restaurant experience of working in a busy kitchen and food and beverage knowledge is Essential.

Possess extensive restaurant industry knowledge including restaurant regulations.

Remain positive and calm under pressure.

Have a proven record of leadership or management experience.

Have the ability to work efficiently under pressure, be self-motivated, and be a creative problem-solver.
