Competitive Salary.
Monday to Friday: 08:00-17:00 (with possibility of leaving at 15:00 on a Friday)
This is a new and exciting opportunity to join a growing manufacturer based in Thetford. As a Category buyer you will provide senior and experienced category management within the purchasing function of the Supply Chain team and report to the Purchasing Manager.
Duties:
* To deliver an effective procurement strategy in conjunction with the head of department.
* Building and managing relationships with suppliers.
* Placing and expediting orders with suppliers.
* Liaise with various stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure the availability and timeliness of materials for production across the site.
* Being an active participant in the Supply Chain team to continually drive process and procedural improvements in the daily work.
* Monitoring order prices against standard with an objective to save money.
* Undertake alternative duties when required
The ideal candidate will:
* Computer literate with excellent general IT skills with the ability to use Microsoft Excel.
* Ability to communicate with people at all levels of the business.
* Be self-motivated, determined and driven to develop the role.
* Work well under pressure with the ability to work to strict deadlines.
* A proactive team player who is honest, hardworking and reliable.
* Able to follow procedures and instructions well.
* A willingness to ask questions, learn, challenge and be directed as the role requires.
