FULL TIME – VEHICLE COMISSIONING TECHNICIAN
Salary Band Scale C - £24,046.50 to £28,044.00
37 Hours – Melton, East Yorkshire
Reporting to the Senior Vehicle Commissioning Technician you will be responsible for converting vehicles for use by the emergency services. This exciting role covers a wide variety of vehicles and equipment for use in both Police and Fire and requires a skill-set with a strong auto-electrical bias, training will be provided on specialist equipment.
You will undertake the following duties as and when required:
Installation of warning equipment, communication devices, telematics and recording equipment to emergency service vehicles.
Maintain and fit operational equipment in vehicles as required.
Carry out all mechanical and electrical repairs on vehicles in a safe, efficient and economical manner in line with manufacturer’s recommendations and ESFM policies and procedures.
Inspect, service and repair all types of vehicles, plant and specialist vehicle equipment.
This role includes working in a small team and also independent working, where you will be required to use your own initiative for problem solving and be capable of working to a high standard.

ESFM are currently exploring a weekday shift pattern, which would allow staff to work compressed hours over a 4 day period. On the 1st April 2015 Humberside Police and Humberside Fire and Rescue Services transferred the provision of vehicle and operational equipment maintenance and fleet management services to their joint venture company Emergency Services Fleet Management (Humberside) Limited based at Melton, East Yorkshire, and this is an exciting opportunity to work within this single service function.
The vehicle and equipment workshop collaboration is a great example of how the emergency services in the Humber area can work together to provide a state of the art facility at a much lower cost.
