The Governance, Audit and Scrutiny Committee at Humberside Fire and Rescue Service & Joint Independent Audit Committee Member for the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner and Humberside Police.

Applications are sought for Independent Members of the Governance, Audit and Scrutiny Committee at Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and the Joint Independent Audit Committee for the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner and Humberside Police.

Vacancies on the two committees will be created by the end of the term of office of three members in April 2022.

The appointment is a joint appointment for membership of both committees.

The Governance, Audit and Scrutiny Committee supports the work of Humberside Fire Authority by:

• ensuring effective governance is in place
• considering reports of Internal and External Auditors
• reviewing the annual statement of accounts
• scrutinising decisions of the Fire Authority and the implementation of policy at the Fire and Rescue Service.

The Joint Independent Audit Committee supports the work of the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner and Humberside Police by:

• ensuring effective governance is in place
• considering reports of Internal and External Auditors
• reviewing the annual statement of accounts.

Applications are sought from candidates from all backgrounds with strong analytical skills who have a desire to support the efficient and effective delivery of blue light services in the Humberside area. You should be proactive in your approach and be able to offer appropriate and effective challenge.

You must reside in the Humberside area and be independent (you must not have been an officer or held office in any of the 3 organisations in the last 5 years to be eligible) of the Fire and Rescue Service, the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner and Humberside Police.

Members will be appointed for a period of one 3-year term and be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. The roles attract an allowance.
