Buyer needed for an established electronics manufacturing organisation to be responsible for carrying out the procedures and duties of the Purchasing Department.
Responsibilities of the Buyer
To establish the source of supply for items to be purchased and negotiate with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, reliable deliveries and our quality objectives are met. This is to be carried out in conjunction with the Project Manager
Prepare parts estimates for sales enquiries
Undertake purchasing and associated tasks using the company's MRP system
Set up database for Purchased Parts in line with company procedures
Resolve purchasing disputes with suppliers to completion to the satisfaction of the company
Resolve late delivery disputes with suppliers. Ensure that when delays are encountered the repercussions are communicated back to the planning department.
Works order shortages progressing, ensuring kits in stores are identified with "Clean kit dates" and updated shortage lists.
Undertake cost down programmes as necessary
Buyer experience/ Qualifications:
Must have experience of purchasing electronic components
From an engineering/manufacturing background
Ability to project manager own work
Supporting junior members when required
Comfortable taking ownership of tasks
Computer literate
Enthusiasm
CIPS qualified (desirable)
