You will be responsible for managing the Health and Safety Management System, providing assurance to the Head of Establishment that the site is safe and legally compliant. You will take responsibility for both explosive safety and general Health and Safety.

In this role you will be key in supporting the Occupational Health and Safety Environment (OHSE) onsite specialism by undertaking investigations, reviews and providing reports. Acting as a focal point for all health and safety enquiries, you will further develop your experience in accident investigations, assisting with risk assessments for line managers and employees across the site, carrying out site safety inspections, and training staff on safety days.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities as Health and Safety Advisor will include:

* Supporting the delivery of OHSE effective management to support activity to ensure that the Head of Establishment meets their statutory compliance commitments whilst championing continuous improvement
* Promoting a single way of working to underpin the cohesive and coherent delivery of Health and Safety management across the site
* Ensuring effective and compliant processes and procedures are integrated in daily business
* Embedding good behaviours and initiate activity to enhance the culture across all areas of health, safety and environmental protection
* Conducting checks, support assurance reviews and deliver monitoring guidance
* Delivering continuous improvement against corporate performance indicators
* Conducting reviews, investigations and audits and supports assurance activities to ensure due diligence
* Managing enquiries and act as focal point on health and safety matters, providing advice to stakeholders across the business
* Assisting in embedding compliance of OHS legislation and regulations across DE&S
* Providing metrics for performance reporting (KPIs and BPIs) and manage dashboard reporting and risk registers
* Assisting in the development of corporate communications in relation to health and safety messages
* Acting as a mentor and coach to more junior members within team to build skills and capabilities

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

* Hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent level 3 qualification, or be able to evidence already working towards obtaining this, and relevant extensive work experience in a similar role
* Computer Literate -Office 365, specifically PowerPoint, Word and Excel
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Ability to communicate with stakeholders at varying levels

It will also benefit your application if you are able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

* Experience working in fire safety
* Previous experience working with COMAH regulations
