Information Communications Technician - Level 3
Vacancy description
Working alongside the IT Helpdesk, the IT apprentice will show an enthusiastic approach to learning IT at CABI, handling first-line support calls for 500 staff via our Helpdesk system.
There will also be a requirement to assist with setting up meetings on our Video Conferencing equipment. The IT apprentice will be committed to completing all college work on time and to a high standard.
The IT helpdesk is the first point of contact for all technical queries, therefore it is imperative that the candidate is able to show initiative and be proactive, whilst delivering excellent service at all times.
• Troubleshooting IT issues in a timely manner
• Ensuring all IT helpdesk requests are logged using helpdesk software
• Desktop and laptop support of Windows 10 and Mac OSX
• Support of printers, mobile devices, telephony, and hardware
• Imaging new computer equipment and migrating existing user data
• Liaise with third party suppliers for fault resolution when appropriate
• Ensuring all apprenticeship work is completed on time and to a high standard
Requirements and prospects
Qualifications Required
GCSEs in Maths and English
Skills Required
• An interest in IT and a drive to develop new skills
• Sound working Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and Mac OSX operating systems
• In-depth knowledge of Office 365 suite
• Strong problem-solving skills
• The ability to work effectively in a busy office environment
• Good organisational and time management skills are essential
• A commitment to delivering a high standard of customer service
Personal Qualities
• Must have a passion for delivering excellent customer service
• Must have the ability to prioritize and manage large workloads
• Must possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Ability to recognize sensitive information and maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times

Training to be Provided
The Information Communications Technician makes their contribution through the application of infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
An Information Communications Technician (ICT) provides support to internal and/or external customers, by using tools or systems to problem solve and trouble-shoot routine and non-routine problems. This occupation supports clients/customers with their systems. They achieve this through monitoring and maintaining the systems and/or platforms to maximise productivity and user experience.
There are 3 pathways within this Apprenticeship which include:
A Support Technician
A Network Technician
A Digital Communications Technician
As a result, you will achieve:
Level 3 Information Communications Technician
Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required)
Future Prospects
A career in IT Support/Service Desk
