Suffolk County Council has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Pensions Officer to join our team based in Ipswich. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of GBP27,041 per annum (pro rata for part time).

As our Senior Pensions Officer, you will:

Lead a team of Pension Officers within our busy pensions department, motivating and providing guidance and support to ensure the team achieve their targets

Complete projects and statutory work, sometimes working closely with other members of the Pensions Management team to achieve these

Refer to policies and relevant pensions legislation and be able to apply these to your work

Represent the team in various meetings as well as occasionally preparing and delivering presentations.

Your responsibilities as our Senior Pensions Officer will include:

Identifying and resolving training requirements in your team

Overseeing various areas of work including transferring in of members previous pension values, an amalgamation of pension records and the provision of pension estimates to members and employers

Reconciling between the pensions and financial systems.

Requirements needed to become our Senior Pensions Officer:

The ability to support and successfully lead a team of people in a busy department enabling targets to be met

A high degree of accuracy when working under pressure to meet conflicting deadlines

Excellent organisational skills

A high level of literacy and numeracy skills

A proven ability to interpret, understand and communicate complicated information.

We positively encourage the use of technology to communicate and engage, but on occasions, there may be a requirement for you to travel using reasonable and suitable means available to you.

Due to the current situation with COVID-19, we have limitations on staff working in our offices and most of the staff continue to work from home.
