Visitor Experience Assistant
We have an exciting new opportunity for several Visitor Experience Assistants to join the organisation in the newly created front line role, working with colleagues, to ensure that all the Cathedral's interaction with the public are positive ones.
Position: Visitor Experience Assistant
Location: Chichester
Hours: Part-time, minimum of 25 hours per week but will require regular weekend working, periodic evening working and a flexible approach to working hours at busy times
Salary: GBP9.50 per hour
Contract: Fixed Term, initially for 6 months
Benefits: Pension contribution, 34 days' leave pro rata, Employee Assistance Programme, access to our on-line training portal, career support, 10% discount in the Cathedral shop, and flexible working opportunities
Closing Date: 5pm Tuesday 3 November 2021, however we reserve the right to close earlier if we have suitable applicants so please do get you CV in as soon as possible.
Interviews: Successful applications for interview will be asked to complete an application form and interviews will be held early in November.
The Role
As a Visitor Experience Assistant you will join the amazing team of employees and volunteers who ensure that visitors have the best possible experience when they visit the Cathedral. It's a varied role, so you might find yourself:
Seeking donations from visitors - in order to ensure financial viability for future generations
Ensuring that the West porch, where you will be based, is welcoming and tidy with a good supply of promotional literature - to make an excellent first impression
Being alert to any concerns with regards safety and security - and reporting them immediately to the verger's team
This is a new role and a really exciting development and positive addition to the visitor experience team.
About You
As you might have guessed, this is a really important role for and although you don't need any direct experience, because training and support is provided, in order to be successful in this role you will need to be:
Comfortable working with figure because the team do like counting things
Enjoy working with people and excellent at communicating with a variety of people - if you're an enthusiastic chatterbox this could be for you
A good team player and comfortable in contributing to making the team a success
Comfortable in approaching people and "selling" the Cathedral
This is a customer facing role but if you don't have any relevant experience that's fine, but you must have the aptitude to deliver a high quality customer experience.

The Cathedral is a living, working place of worship that has been at the centre of life in Chichester for over nine centuries. It is the Mother Church of the Diocese of Chichester which covers East and West Sussex and it is also a visitor attraction, a venue for music and the arts and an all-round hub for the community welcoming over 350,000 visitors each year.
There are currently 35 employees in a variety of roles and about 400 volunteers many of whom work in visitor facing roles.
