Ongo Communities is seeking a Peer Mentor/Administrator for its new Endeavour project, funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) as part of the (Apply online only) European Structural and Investment Fund Programme.

Overall Purpose of Job

The "Endeavour Project' aims to support disadvantaged people, including young people, from communities across North Lincolnshire, focusing on mental health issues and barriers to work, supporting them to develop the confidence and skills to move forward and make a real difference in their wellbeing and employment status.

Based in Scunthorpe

Contract until Sept 2023

Salary GBP12740 (25 hours a week)

Overall Purpose of Job

Work as part of a team to support Ongo tenants and disadvantaged people from our communities, focusing on those with mental health issues, to develop the confidence and skills to move forward and make a real difference in their wellbeing.

Use mentoring skills to deliver a consistent, high quality range of supportive interventions, based on individuals' needs, promoting wellbeing and recovery in order to help clients to develop the necessary life skills and overcome the barriers that prevent progression to employability, and potentially employment, including self-employment.

Take on administrative tasks for the team including upkeep of the database for participants and input data to evidence eligibility for the project.

Responsibilities and Duties:

* Work as part of the team to support the creation and delivery of an engagement plan to ensure that 120 young people are signed up to the project and achieving required outcomes over 2 and a half years

* Meet own project targets in respect of peer mentor support for young participants engaged on the project.

* Engage people with mental health problems and establish trusting, collaborative relationships.

* Provide administrative duties for the team including printing, photocopying, setting up files and maintaining a filing system.

* Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with service requirements.

* Work as part of the team to advertise the service, including social media marketing, using case studies and representing the company at events as appropriate.

* To participate in peer mentor training (if not already in place), personal support and supervision, undertake personal development training as appropriate to the post.

* Close liaison with customers to support them to achieve their set objectives. This can sometimes be contact that is complex or contentious in nature.

* Regular contact with financial organisations and benefits agencies to ensure that clients are receiving the financial benefits that they are entitled to.

* Regular communication with external support agencies and charitable organisations to enjoy the benefits of joint working with likeminded organisations.

* A relevant peer mentoring/coaching qualification or willingness to attain one

* Proven administrative skills from experience gained in a fast paced environment.

* Experience of providing mentoring support to people with a mental illness

* Understanding of the employment needs and difficulties of people who experience mental health problems and of supporting individuals to obtain and sustain employment.

* Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (face to face, by telephone)

* Organisational ability to handle multiple priorities, act quickly and decisively, work to changing deadlines and pay attention to detail

* Ability to transport yourself across North Lincolnshire
