Our Construction programme has been a great success, and we now have a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about this field to teach on the HNC construction and the Built Environment within University Studies. Initially nine hours per week, however, this role has potential to expand in the next academic year as two bespoke BSc's in Construction Management are being developed and will be added to the programme.

In this academic year the key responsibilities for this role will be to prepare, support and educate new entrants, and more experienced education returners into construction, as well as undertaking tutorials and managing assessments and associated marking. You will have the opportunity to take part in the development of the new degree programs for academic year 2022/3 prior to validation.

You will also be required to work collaboratively and participate in University events, specifically those with a focus on recruitment.

This is an exciting and developing programme with plenty of opportunity; it may be particularly suited, but not limited, to individuals completing a PHD or Masters who wish to teach alongside their studies.

We ask that you have

  • A Higher qualification or Foundation degree (ideally in one of the professional disciplines of the Construction Industry);
  • Relevant industry experience;
  • An interest / experience in innovative construction technologies & sustainability;
  • The ability to relate to and work with young people in a supportive way;
  • The ability to teach both practical and theory elements (a teaching qualification is desirable, but not essential);
  • Experience of teaching higher national programmes / degree programmes is preferred.

Please ensure you familiarise yourself with our Character Strengths and Mission Statement to incorporate into your personal statement. You will find this very beneficial if you are invited to attend for an interview and it will help you to understand our expectations of you at an early stage of the recruitment process.
