Occupant Safety Engineer

Description:

*

The Occupant Restraints team are responsible for the design and development of the following aggregate systems:

*

Driver, Passenger, Curtain, Side, Far side and Knee airbags, Front and Rear seat belts and integration of child restraints.

*

The Occupant Safety Engineer will need outstanding engineering skills. Experience of leading Restraint systems design and development from concept through to production is essential.

*

To contribute to the delivery of Restraints engineering project work for both parent company & 3rd party customers

* To provide technical support to OEM in Restraints engineering to ensure all engineering, legislative, craftsmanship, cost & quality targets are met.

* Can demonstrate a good understanding of legislative and consumer testing requirements.

* Represent Restraints Engineering at Senior Management, project and supplier reviews

* Report and utilize information to address Restraints engineering issues from reviews

* Identify potential concerns and address Restraints team issues to ensure team objectives are controlled and met

* Support the development of the surfaces layout and design

* Arrange and support design reviews

* Interface with Package, Analysis, Manufacturing, DVA etc. and implement recommendations where appropriate to create a right first time release

* Support the development of DFMEA's

Other candidate requirements:

* Degree qualified or similar qualification minimum,

* Strong numeracy and literacy

* Good organisational and communication skills

* Understands roles and needs of different client groups; evidence of working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve results

* Relevant Restraints automotive experience essential

* Experience of contributing to the delivery of Restraints engineering in the automotive sector

* Demonstrates appropriate depth of knowledge in relevant technical specialties

* Evidence of engineering skills, including ability to manage and resolve engineering issues

* Ability to strive for improvements and achieving high customer satisfaction

* Can demonstrate CAD proficiency

* Able to support the definition of requirements for, and interpret the results from, component, system and occupant simulation and testing.

* Can demonstrate an awareness of potential warranty issues and cost saving opportunities.
