The Industry team works regularly in the Healthcare, Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, High Value Manufacturing, Information & Communications, and Rail sectors. Our projects range from few-month early feasibility studies, through the entire engineering lifecycle, to multi-year support for production-grade software systems, with engineers switching between these in line with their career aspirations and development plans.

We are expanding our existing capability in Cyber Security within the Industry team, and are looking for talented researchers and engineers with relevant experience. Roke is recruiting for Embedded Security engineers who are driven by solving varied and interesting client problems. The successful candidates will be working alongside Roke's high-profile clients to help them engineer bespoke, highly-secure yet agile embedded solutions within complex environments with the aim of protecting products and systems from potential threats.

Areas of Responsibility/Tasks:
- Research and development of security functions in embedded systems
- Investigate how emerging technologies can be used to improve security
- Evaluate security mechanisms to understand their suitability
- Make recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Writing technical material for competitive bids
- Complying with Roke's policies and procedures

Essential skills/experience
Your broad technical, research and software development background will allow you to rapidly understand new systems and domains, and prototype systems based on your research. As an Embedded Security Engineer, you will have a degree level qualification in a STEM subject, or you will have an education and level of experience which is comparable.
Depending on your level of ability/experience, you will have familiarity, competence or expertise in a subset of these areas:
A range of programming languages & Software development skills
Experience of Linux or real-time operating systems on embedded platforms
Familiarity with application of security methods, such as cryptographic libraries
Ability to Coordination with functional areas(project teams) to achieve secure system security
Identification and Validation of system security level
Identify, Document and apply security requirements to top-level systems and detailed subsystems.
Experience of networked applications
Demonstrate strong analytical skills
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills?????????????????????
Familiarity with application security (writing secure code) (Desirable)
Experience with trusted platform modules or other hardware security modules (Desirable)
