The Opportunity

We are expanding our existing capability in Cyber Security within the Industry team, this team will growth significantly within the next 12 months through recruitment and training of junior engineers. Roke is recruiting a Senior Cyber Security Architect who is driven by solving varied and interesting client problems. The successful candidates will be working alongside Roke's high-profile clients to help them engineer bespoke, highly-secure yet agile embedded solutions within complex environments with the aim of protecting products and systems from potential threats.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting the development of capability within their own technical area. This senior position will be pivotal to capability development through; involvement with business development activities, support our account managers in development of customer offerings to address market drivers, identifying opportunities to develop/exploit our own IP in our target proposition space, as well as understanding and documenting the customer's requirements for distribution to engineering team.

Areas of Responsibility/Tasks:

Architecture design and assurance for complex systems that are highly resilient to cyber threats
Architecture modelling and oversight of technical design studies
Investigating how emerging technologies can be utilised to increase both agility and security
Frequent engagement with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Undertake such other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job holder's experience and qualifications, as may be required for the smooth operation of the business
Make recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Writing technical material for competitive bids

Beyond your technical skills, you will be proactive and able to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. You will work well alone or as part of a team. You will be curious and seek out the best approach/solution/tool for the job at hand.

Essential skills/experience
Your broad technical, research and software development background will allow you to rapidly understand new systems and domains, and prototype systems based on your research. As a Senior Cyber Security Architect, you will have a degree level qualification in a STEM subject, or you will have an education and level of experience which is comparable.

Have a recognised Cyber Security qualification such as NCSC Certified Cyber Professional (CCP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP);
You'll have a background in information technology engineering, ideally networking, software, or hardware. In addition you should:
Demonstrate strong analytical skills;
Have the ability to understand, adapt and architect complex systems; and
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
Any experience of high assurance systems;
Investigate how emerging technologies can be used to improve security
Evaluate security mechanisms to understand their suitability
Industry background in Information Assurance systems and processes;
Strong verbal and written communication and negotiating skills, including the ability to present to executives.
