Development Chef

We are looking to recruit a Development Chef with our busy culinary team, this is a full time role working Monday to Friday.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for the day to day upkeep of the Development kitchen and the Showrooms as well as equipment.
  • Responsible for hygiene standards both onsite and when working remotely.
  • Preparing and ensuring equipment installed and ready for demonstrations, which may involve liaising with R&D department.
  • Responsible for stock control and rotation, including dry stores, fridges and freezers.
  • Organise supplies for and conduct test work and demonstrations working with clients and the Sales team.
  • Prepare foods ready for demonstrations as requested
  • Conduct live equipment training to staff and customer's onsite and offsite around the UK.
  • Conduct test work under the guidance of Culinary Director in association with the Board of Directors, work closely on NPD projects with R&D / Engineering Manager.
  • Prepare test reports including results and photographs, record and file.
  • Working with the Marketing teams to promote Middleby brands including Lincat via social media etc.
  • Assisting at exhibitions and other events both in the UK and overseas when required.
  • Assist with departmental admin tasks, monthly reports and liaise with application team chefs arranging site training.
  • Will be required to support and work occasionally at other Middleby sites.
  • Work with R&D on innovation and research


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Minimum City & Guilds Level 2 in Cooking for the Catering industry
  • Demonstrate a good level of industry knowledge and experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Full Driving License and own transport
  • Ability to work independently and within set timescales
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft products including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to work on their own as well as within a group
  • Represent the Company professionally at all times
  • To undergo update training as required.
