Job title: EHS Specialist

Location: Spiddal, Co.Galway

About the Role:

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for managing, evolving and maintaining the EH&S programs within the company, ensuring best practice within the industry and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

Monitoring all current and emerging EHS regulations and developing strategies/annual-work schedule to ensure compliance
Ensure that policies and procedures which fulfil company goals for the safety of employees and customers are being complied with
Investigate and report on all accidents and incidents, prepare KPI's and report to senior management, identify trends, roll out training and awareness initiatives to close any gaps
Undertake monthly Gemba walks of the site (and any additional sites), actioning all findings and recommendations EHS Specialist
Hold bi-monthly meetings with the First Aid Responder team, audit and restock all first aid boxes, first aid equipment, fire extinguishers etc, ensure adequate training levels are maintained
Lead and coordinate the Emergency Response Team, schedule drills, drive actions to continuously improve response and close any gaps, schedule and/or provide training * Create (where applicable), monitor and manage all MSDS's, chemical register, roll out chemical awareness and chemical spill response training
Environmental management initiatives, waste control, monitor and reduce energy consumption, liaise with third parties such as EPA, HSA as appropriate
Primary Risk-assessor input in conjunction with R&D, New-Product[1]Introduction & Operations staff relating to the introduction of new products and processes on site.
Design and project manage EHS inputs for new processes, chemicals, and equipment
Maintain risk assessment register and the company safety statement updates
Management of contractors, initiating permits, auditing of EHS standards, coordinating multiple vendorsExperience required:

Third level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline with a work[1]based qualification in Environmental Health & Safety or a qualification in Safety engineering
3 - 5 years' experience in EH&S role
Experience working in the medical device sector is desirable but not essential
