The School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Professional at Kingston College is broken down into sections, of which Engineering is one and it incorporates many facets of engineering – automotive, aerospace, electrical, electronics, mechanical and maintenance. Its courses range from pre-entry level to Higher National Diploma and it has a long and successful track record in providing high quality training, working with a large number of employers and training organisations.

We’re now looking for an Assessor / Lecturer to assess apprentices in the workplace, studying the Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard. Your primary role will be assessment of engineering apprentices in the workplace although you may be required to teach theoretical and practical workshop sessions relating to a variety of topics to Engineering / Maintenance students. You will help the Head of Section to ensure that your apprentices are successful through stringent student monitoring and strict adherence to the quality, administration and funding requirements. You’ll work on teaching schemes, assessment schedules and student monitoring and provide a high-quality student experience.

To be considered for this role, candidates must hold professional industry qualifications along with an Assessor / IV qualification related to engineering. With high personal standards and expectations, you will have experience of successful assessment and delivery of engineering apprenticeship standards and have assessed engineering apprentices in the workplace. You may also have delivered training in an engineering environment or taught engineering in an educational setting to at least Level 3 or above.

We’d like you to have a background in multiple areas of engineering to include machining, maintenance and manufacturing up to Level 4. Offering other areas of engineering up to Level 5 would be an advantage. A teaching qualification is not essential however you must be willing to achieve one in line with current regulations.

Closing date for the return of completed applications is 2nd November 2021

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 37 days plus up to 7 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees’ physical and mental health. This leave is all in addition to Bank Holiday entitlement. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.
