Our product range comprises of clay bricks, Thermalite blocks, aggregate blocks, Red Bank chimney, roofing and flue systems, precast concrete and flooring products and Formpave permeable paving.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in Measham in the position of SHE Coordinator.

The Role

This position will provide support and coordination for all Safety, Health and Wellbeing activities on site, plus facilitation of the environmental (and quality) management standards as part of the businesses Integrated Management System (IMS).

The role holder will coordinate the systems and processes that exist to monitor and control our Compliance to Legislation, Internal Policies as well as being the focal point of both internal and external auditsand proactive SHE improvement activities.

They will be the individual on site who will support Operational Management to maintain high standards, champion innovation and solutions to issues, promote positive culture and safety working practices and deliver the IMS to prove compliance. They will share best practice from other parts of the business or external forums to drive continuous improvement.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will require:

Safety

  • Drive and maintain the site risk assessment and standard operating procedures matrix, to ensure assessments are completed to a high standard, actions raised are tracked to completion and assessments are reviewed on a regular basis.

  • Assist the Plant Manager and their team with the creation of risk assessments and ensure they are recorded on the appropriate templates

  • Assist the Plant Manager and their team in the completion of Incident Investigations

  • Undertake daily site inspections of the plant and facilities to identify hazards and to converse with colleagues on operational safety issues, to promote good culture

  • Act as secretary to the Building Safety Together committee, to ensure accurate minutes are created and actions recorded and tracked to completion. Promote the cause of the BST committee to make the forum a driver for cultural change on site

    Environment

  • Monitor the environmental performance of the site, to ensure compliance with Permits and Regulations as applicable

  • Provide appropriate data to Environment and Energy Manager to allow compliance with legislation

    Information

  • Prepare accurate and timely reports and presentations that demonstrate site compliance to legislation, policy and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure that all data is collected, monitored and distributed to all parties in a timely fashion

    Systems

  • Liaise with managers and workforce regarding the due dates for corrective actions, improvement and audit results so that non-conformances are dealt with in a timely fashion

  • Attend the Plant Managers meetings as appropriate to provide guidance and advice on SHE matters and offer challenge / guidance / reassurance on the path to take to maintain the IMS system and culture on site

  • Gather and monitor all data and statistics associated with site Health, Safety and Environmental performance and ensure accurate and timely submissions.

  • Assist, lead and promote the implementation of systems and processes as issued by the Central Health, Safety and Environmental Teams

  • Own the site training and competence matrix, to demonstrate all colleagues training plans and to be able to plan refresher training as appropriate.

Person Specification

  • Confident nature, good written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to direct management to maintain standards

  • High level of organisational skills

  • Ability to use computer systems (Intelex and SharePoint) plus MS applications

  • High levels of self-discipline

  • A confident presenter of data, facts and information

  • Flexible approach

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

  • To be able to attend Divisional Building Safety Committee meetings and SHE Coordinator meetings as necessary away from home site

Training/Qualification

  • NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent level) in Safety Management; or be on an internal development program to bring them to this level within 3 months of appointment.

  • Understanding of ISO management systems (9, 14 and 45001)

  • Ideally have an IEMA 2 day Managing with Environmental Sustainability (or equivalent course) or be on an internal development program to bring them to this level.

  • Auditor experience in any of the following ISO management systems 9001, 14001 and 45001
